The 2011 US-Japan topical workshop on The next stage in the progress of simulation science in plasma physics is a part of The Joint Institute for Fusion Theory (JIFT) program aimed to enhance US-Japan fusion research collaborations. The JIFT objectives are to advance the theoretical understanding of plasmas and to develop fundamental theoretical and computational tools and concepts for understanding nonlinear plasma phenomena.

The 2011 JIFT workshop focuses on the recent progress of simulation techniques, modeling, data analysis methods and so on for large-scale computer simulations in plasma physics and fusion science. Several talks about GPGPU techniques, remote collaboration sysytem by internet and so on will be also presented. The workshop will consist of oral presentations that are approximately 30 minutes long including 10-minute discussion. This JIFT workshop is a follow-up to one on the topic ` Development of Simulation Science in Plasma Physics ' held last year (Nov. 12-13, 2011) at Chicago, Illinois, USA after the APS-DPP Meeting (Nov. 8-12, 2010).

This workshop follows the 21th International Toki Conference (ITC21) on Integration of Fusion Science and Technology for Steady State Operation , which will be held at the Ceratopia Toki (Toki-City, Gifu, Japan).
